National Judges Training

Leinster TREC held a National Judges Training on the 5th of February 2012 by kind permission of the Murphy Family, in Kilkenny West, The Pigeons, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. A number of experienced Regional Judges took on the training, as well as some newer judges who wanted to confirm their Regional status. It was great to see that three different groups were represented, from Leinster, Turas and Dingle TREC. International Judge and TREC Ireland director Winfried Bastian put together the course, based on the new updates from FITE (the international governing body of TREC), as well as the finer points of the Irish rules. In the afternoon the participants got a chance to judge a number of obstacles, thanks to the two guinea pigs, Karen Murphy and Judi Hornsby-Kerr (both Midlands TREC). Although very wet, all involved learned a great deal, and it’s great to see the high standard of judges already produced by TREC Ireland. The group is now looking forward to using this newly improved expertise in their League, kicking off on the 12th of February.
