Donegal TREC welcome new riders to POR

There was a touch of spring in the air in Kilmacrennan as riders assembled for the first POR (orienteering) event of the year with Donegal TREC. Hosts John and Sharon treated riders to a beautiful setting, great orienteering and lovely facilities which we all look forward to returning for more adventures later in the season.

There was a good entry for the day, including nine newcomers to the sport. The ladies took top spot with a win for Alison McCrabbe and Eileen Woods on an excellent score of 432 points out of a possible 480. The men from Muff, James Weir and Dermot McErlean came second with a score of 416. The pair had some excellent time scores but sadly a slight detour lost valuable points. Third place also went to a duo of Inishowen riders with Lynne McKeown and Ciara Gillan also tackling their first POR route.

Thank you to all who came to support the event, riders, stewards, judges and a special thank you to John and Sharon of Equiwash for hosting the day.
